I rarely visit DeviantArt any more...real life gets in the way. :(

I have been having a lot of fun, going to TONS of concerts/shows all over the country. My friend and I take crazy weekend roadtrips! So far we've been to South Dakota, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Iowa. Just this year! And before the year is out, we'll be adding Illinois and Minnesota to that list. Insane fun...and very very little sleep.

But it's all good. So anyways, there's an update for ya! :D

So I pulled up to the Starbucks drive-through on my way home from work yesterday. As I rolled down the window to tell the person inside what I wanted, I did not get the normal "Hi, welcome to Starbucks, what would you like today?"

Instead, this incredibly cheerful male voice came over the speaker, "Heeey, what's up!" Totally caught off guard but amused, I just stammered out this "Hi!", and he said back, "Hey!" (in a voice that sounded like he realized how funny he sounded). I told him I wanted a Java Chip Frappuccino and he said, "Nice, I can make that for you!". Then he asked if I wanted any blueberry muffins with that and I said no thanks, then he said, "Well that's awesome cause we don't have them anyways!"

I was about to start laughing out loud at this point. So he told me my total and I drove up to the window. When he came to the window, he looked decidedly abashed. He stuck my drink out the window at me and said, "Here, this is for you!" and handed me my straw. I said thanks, handed him my money, then, I said, "Y'know, that was probably one of the most unique and friendly greetings I've ever gotten!"

He looked embarrassed as he counted the money I'd given him and he said, "Well, y'know, I live to scar." And I said, "No, it was great! Thanks for it!" He mumbled something and went bright red. He told me to have a great day since it was only going to get hotter. I told him to have a great day too, then I drove off. :)

The History of Haven...

2003 - I dreamed of having my own website to put my creations on
(I found other outlets at this time)
2004 - I kept dreaming and began learning about websites
(moved twice during this year)
2005 - I made a website, finally...Haven
(relocated half a world away)
2006 - I faithfully updated for a year
(things were kinda rough)
2007 - I stopped updating but swore I would not abandon Haven
(my mom died from cancer)
2008 - I thought about Haven and missed it
(school got in the way)
2009 - I brought Haven back to life

TADA!

I thought some of you on here might enjoy this little story...

I was in Half-Price Bookstore (I know these are not international or even nationwide, but they are bookstores where people sell their CD's, books, magazines, DVD's, and records and then other people can buy them at half the retail price...or sometimes even lower), which btw is a very dangerous place for me to be, as I LOVE books!

Anyway, after going all over the store, I wound up with:

Indiana Jones: The Ultimate Guide (DK book)
Star Wars Encyclopedia
Ender's Game & Speaker for the Dead
Indiana Jones movie trilogy plus bonus material
Uru: Ages Beyond Myst strategy guide
Creating the Worlds of Star Wars in 365 Days
Tolkien's World: Paintings of Middle-Earth
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Extended Edition

So anyways, I took my basket up to the checkout counter and started getting stuff out. The check-out lady started commenting on the Indiana Jones movies, then she saw Ender's Game and started raving about it, then she saw the Tolkien book and then Star Wars.

And she paused for a second, then she said, "That's a whole lot of nerd!" I busted out laughing, because it's quite true. I had a lot of my fandoms there. She bagged and handed me all my items and said, "Enjoy your nerd goody bag!" And I was like, "Thanks, you know I will!"

Ah, I love that store...

(oh, and btw, that entire purchase cost about $54)
