So I pulled up to the Starbucks drive-through on my way home from work yesterday. As I rolled down the window to tell the person inside what I wanted, I did not get the normal "Hi, welcome to Starbucks, what would you like today?"
Instead, this incredibly cheerful male voice came over the speaker, "Heeey, what's up!" Totally caught off guard but amused, I just stammered out this "Hi!", and he said back, "Hey!" (in a voice that sounded like he realized how funny he sounded). I told him I wanted a Java Chip Frappuccino and he said, "Nice, I can make that for you!". Then he asked if I wanted any blueberry muffins with that and I said no thanks, then he said, "Well that's awesome cause we don't have them anyways!"
I was about to start laughing out loud at this point. So he told me my total and I drove up to the window. When he came to the window, he looked decidedly abashed. He stuck my drink out the window at me and said, "Here, this is for you!" and handed me my straw. I said thanks, handed him my money, then, I said, "Y'know, that was probably one of the most unique and friendly greetings I've ever gotten!"
He looked embarrassed as he counted the money I'd given him and he said, "Well, y'know, I live to scar." And I said, "No, it was great! Thanks for it!" He mumbled something and went bright red. He told me to have a great day since it was only going to get hotter. I told him to have a great day too, then I drove off.
